As a  DevOps Engineer  your tasks may vary day-to-day but primarily will focus on working with customers to architect and deploy dynamically scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant, and reliable applications on AWS using industry standard tools and processes.  You will work closely with our Project Management and DevOps Consulting teams to deliver Mission’s Managed DevOps service to the accounts to which you’re aligned. 

This would include:

• Using appropriate AWS services, design and deploy an application based on given customer and/or DevOps Consultant’s requirements
• Implement enterprise-wide scalable operations on AWS
• Understanding core AWS security and auditing capabilities
• Applying DevOps Concepts including: IAC using Terraform, configuration management using Chef, and Ansible, CI/CD using Jenkins, CodeDeploy, etc.
• Making informed decisions about customer’s infrastructure and understand the impact of design decisions
Duties & Responsibilities
    • Perform assessments of customer workloads as compared to AWS best practices and make recommendations for remediation
    • Migrate existing services to AWS-native solutions as required
    • Leverage tools like Terraform and Jenkins to incrementally automate, modernize and improve customers’  environments.
    • Develop CI/CD pipelines for various application stacks, including LAMP, Java and  Node.js
    • Implement centralized logging solutions such as ELK, SumoLogic and CloudWatch Logs.
    • Continually improve the security posture of our customers by performing various assessments and analyses using tools like Prowler, CloudCheckr and AlertLogic.
    • Identify areas for cost savings through AutoScaling, right-sizing and elimination of waste within the customer’s AWS environments.
Required Skills
    • Understanding of AWS security controls, network boundary controls and related toolsets
    • AWS Associate-level (Architect and/or DevOps) Certification or equivalent AWS experience
    • Comprehension of the various IT infrastructures and application stacks
    • Knowledge of AWS’s Well Architected Framework
    • Hands-on experience with Configuration Management and Configuration Orchestration tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, etc.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to project timelines
    • Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Powershell, Ruby, Python, etc)
    • Ability to translate requirements into design documents and project plans
    • Hands-on experience with containerization, preferably on AWS
    • Knowledge of ITIL practices (Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management)
    • Solid understanding of DevOps Concepts like IaC, CI/CD, etc
    • Excellent oral/written communication and organization skills 
    • Passion for technology and continuous education
Preferred Skills
    • Additional AWS certifications (Specialty/Professional)
    • Experience with Apache, nginx, Tomcat, IIS, and varnish
    • Experience managing various database engines, like MySQL, PostgreSQL and MSSQL
    • Experience building and administering LAMP, RoR, Java, and/or  ASP.NET  web application environments
    • Experience with third-party cost optimization tools (CloudHealth, CloudCheckr, etc)
    • Knowledge of HIPAA/HITRUST or other regulatory compliance standards
    • Experience developing Installation Qualification (IQ) documents
