Quality Assurance Engineer

General Purpose: 

Ensure all products meet a high standard of quality and are in alignment with the needs of the business and customers.

Responsible for creating and executing test cases, documenting results and defects, reporting status on a regular basis and performing other software quality assurance tasks as assigned. 

Performs functional, integration, usability, exploratory and regression testing activities for manual test scenarios.

Roles and responsibilities: 

1.      Collaborates on requirements/stories

2.      Develops, executes and maintains manual test cases for functional, integration, usability and regression testing

3.      Participates in exploratory testing

4.      Reports on test status of stories/features

5.      Identifies and maintains defects

6.      Creates data for testing needs


1.     Works closely with the Team Lead for assignments

2.     Works closely with Scrum team to understand the story objectives

3.     Collaborates with development counterparts to understand the technical changes

4.     Analyzes, clarifies and identifies gaps in requirements/stories

5.     Derives estimates and/or story points

6.     Active participant and presenter in test case reviews

7.     Test cases are developed and reviewed while story is in code development and prior to code complete

8.     Has thorough understanding of application and how new features/functionality will impact application

9.     Has a comprehensive understanding of impacts of change outside of the scope of the change

10.   Ability to perform risk analysis at the product level

11.   Understands and communicates criticality of defects

12.   Raises quality concerns quickly and accurately

13.   Works independently as well as in a group setting

14.   Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC)
