Ruby on Rails Lead Developer

We are looking for a very senior developer to lead our development team and solve the most complicated technical challenges at EasyBroker. You'll be assisted by a development manager who will handle the day-to-day coaching of the team but you'll be responsible for assuring that EasyBroker is stable, can scale and that the team writes clean code. In total we’re a team of 20+ and the product team consists of 5 developers, a head of product, a QA tester and we’re looking to grow the team by 5 or 6 people.


We’re a product company that is focused on creating easy-to-use real estate software for Latin American markets and almost all of our team is located in Mexico City but we’re also open to hiring remote as long you don’t mind visiting us a few times a year and you’re close to our timezone. Don’t worry we’ll help cover your traveling costs. We also believe in a healthy work-life balance so you won’t have any crazy hours and we’re also focused on deliverables rather than micromanaging you.


Our current stack is Rails 5, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, DelayedJob and we also use React Native for our Android and iOS applications. On the backend we’re looking to add an API, optimize the overall performance of our code and we’re always adding cool new features. Responsibilities:
  • Help build and coach a team of talented developers - managing their daily activities is handled by their dev manager

  • Write excellent well tested code

  • Write and assist other developers in creating technical specifications

  • Review pull requests to ensure the quality of your teammates code

  • Optimize application performance and resolve scalability issues

  • Work with the team and clients to solve issues and understand user needs

  • Solve the toughest problems other team members can't solve

  • Balance pragmatic solutions against perfect ones

  • Take responsibility for the stability and success of our product from a tech perspective

  • Work with the Head of Product and Dev Manager to Improve how we work

  • Research new frameworks, libraries and other technologies and help decide which we should use

  • Give talks, assist meetups and be a thought leader in your areas of expertise

Requirements:
  • At least one year experience in Ruby on Rails

  • Proponent of writing unit and functional tests

  • Passionate about clean code

  • Knowledge of dev ops and basic shell scripting

  • Experience coaching and hiring developers
